Best picks and tips for buying at Goodwill

CLOTHES

Alright, let's talk about clothes. There are some dos and don'ts. My problem is I get price happy and want to get all the clothes I see because they are cheap. Really inspect the clothes, look for holes, and feel the texture. For texture, they might look okay but then you put it on and you realize it feels and looks ratty. Something about those Goodwill lights that makes everything look good. Kids' clothes are so cheap there and with how fast they go through them don't buy them at full price. Especially shoes! I personally have gotten at least 3 pairs of shoes that have lasted me 5 years and I plan on using them for many more! And I am not talking about flip flops. They are adorable leather tap shoes (I have no idea if that is what they are but that's what they look like) and they are perfect for a professional look when it's cold out.

DISHES

Okay, some people might say no way but we got almost all our dishes from Goodwill!! They always have a great selection and you can always run it through the dishwasher a couple times. Now obviously don't get something that's nasty. But most glassware you can put in the dishwasher and most dishwashers have a sanitizing mode so why not? This is a great option for newlyweds, people with young children, and college students. Plus you can find the funniest and most unique mugs there! Look at my DIY CHICKEN WIRE HANGER to see how I used these fun red chicken mugs I found (if you couldn't tell by my header I love chickens).

SHEETS/FABRIC

Fabric! No, they don’t have straight fabric most of the time but they always have sheets for cheap! I use these sheets for whatever DIY’s I need. Check out how I used an old sheet for my DIY TV STAND. I've also used them to make pillowcases, the decor at my wedding, and so much more.

BOOKS/MOVIES

Books and Movies! Lately, I am on the prowl for Friends Season DVDs since they took it off Netflix. No luck so far but I did find Two Weeks Notice! Gotta love that Sandra. My husband loves to troll through the books while I'm busy going through all the isles. If you can't tell I LOVE thrift shopping.

FURNITURE

Almost half of my furniture is from Goodwill. If you are like me and like expensive taste but can’t afford it, the best option is to get cheap furniture and make it your own! Head over to my DIY Page and you will find specific DIY Furniture from Goodwill.
